Milan is definitely one of the biggest surprises of the current European season, with a strong start in all competitions. On Tuesday, the Rossoneri secured an easy 3-0 victory over Lecce and advanced in the Coppa Italia, taking full advantage of a red card for the visiting team to build an excellent result ahead of Sunday's derby against Napoli.

The team led by coach Massimiliano Allegri took control of the match from the first minute and dictated the pace of their offensive actions. Nkunku had already come very close to opening the scoring with a shot that hit the crossbar after only nine minutes, but the situation improved greatly after Jamil Siebert was sent off just 20 minutes into the game, greatly increasing their superiority in possession. Shortly after, Bartesaghi set up the first goal, crossing into the box for Santiago Giménez to finish into the net.

That goal made the atmosphere at San Siro much more favorable, and Milan managed the situation well to mature their performance and seek qualification. Even before halftime, Rbiot and Pavlovic came very close to scoring the second goal with shots that hit the crossbar, but Milan left the scoring for the second half.

Milan gave Lecce no chance to react

Lecce tried to ease the pressure and find some breathing space through substitutions, but the game remained firmly under Milan's control, who naturally saw their lead increase. Just two minutes in, Loftus-Cheek hit the visitors' post again, but this time it didn't take long for Nkunku to take advantage of Alexis Saelemaekers' cross and volley home a beautiful shot into the net.

The changes made by the Rossoneri encouraged Milan to stay on top of Lecce. In the 63rd minute, in yet another ball lifted into the box, Youssouf Fofana crossed and Christian Pulisic finished to seal the final score for Milan, who will face Lazio in the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia, a competition in which they are serious contenders for the title.
