Celtic have won each of their last five meetings with Motherwell, scoring at least three times in each victory, netting 16 times overall.

The Steelmen's most-recent victory over the Hoops came in December 2015, last defeating them at Fir Park almost 13 years ago.

Motherwell vs Celtic preview

After a nightmarish start to life at Celtic, there are signs that Wilfired Nancy is turning things around, so will his team win again? On Saturday, in a truly crazy match at Almondvale, the Hoops beat bottom of the table Livingston 4-2, all the goals coming during a manic first half. Livi led 1-0 and then 2-1, only for Benjamin Nygren and then Yang Hyun-jun to equalise, all occurring inside ten minutes, with Nygren scoring again before Arne Engels converted a penalty to secure victory in West Lothian.

That made it back-to-back wins for the Bhoys, previously defeating Aberdeen 3-1 at Parkhead, thanks to late goals from Kieran Tierney and then James Forrest. Before that though, Nancy had catastrophically lost each of his first four matches in charge, including being beaten by St Mirren in the League Cup Final at Hampden. Now though, Celtic have stabilised and will join Premiership leaders Hearts on 41 points at the top of the table with victory here, following the Jambos' defeat in the Edinburgh derby last weekend. With the small matter of an Old Firm derby against Rangers to come on Saturday, will the four in a row champions claim three precious points in North Lanarkshire?

Well, that is far from a guarantee, given Motherwell's impressive current form. At the weekend, the Steelmen were beaten for just the third time all season, narrowly defeated 1-0 by Rangers at Ibrox. This result actually saw the Gers leapfrog the Well into third place, underlining how well they're doing.

Prior to this trip to Govan, Jens Berthel Askou's team were unbeaten in ten, dating back to mid-October, winning four of their last five at Fir Park, most recently beating Dundee 1-0 just before Christmas; Callum Slattery the late match-winner. Motherwell finished eighth last season, but are very much on course to qualify for Europe for only the third time in 12 years. Back on 5 October, Celtic required a stoppage time stooping header from Daizen Maeda to beat Motherwell 3-2 in a thriller at Parkhead, so expect another entertaining affair on Tuesday night.

Meantime, Calum Ward will continue to deputise in goal, with Aston Oxborough out due to a hand injury. Centre-back Stephen Welsh, on loan from Celtic, is ineligible to face his parent club.

Motherwell player to watch vs Celtic

Celtic team news

In goal, Kasper Schmeichel missed the weekend trip to Almondvale due to a knock, hence why Viljami Sinisalo started a Premiership match for only the fourth time, so will the veteran return?

This all very much limits Nancy's options, but Yang Hyun-jun and Luke McCowan could continue as the makeshift wing-backs, with Johnny Kenny once again given an opportunity to lead the line.

Celtic predicted lineup vs Motherwell: (3-4-3): Sinisalo; Ralston, Trusty, Tierney; Yang, McGregor, Engels, McCowan; Nygren, Maeda, Kenny.

Celtic player to watch vs Motherwell

Benjamin Nygren's brace against Livingston takes his tally to eight goals for the season, arguably the best of the club's summer signings, so will he shine in this match too?

Motherwell vs Celtic prediction

This match should guarantee goals, given that Celtic' six outings under Nancy have witnessed 23 of them, but we are backing the Hoops to leave Fir Park victorious: Motherwell 1-3 Celtic.
