José Mourinho has been synonymous with titles and consistent results for much of his coaching career, having been instrumental in winning historic titles with Chelsea and having notable spells with Premier League clubs Manchester United and Tottenham, as well as the undeniable success he achieved when he coached Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid. However, the Portuguese coach's most recent work has been marked by failures and various consternations.

After being sacked in the middle of the last Serie A season in charge of Roma (which improved considerably after the arrival of Claudio Ranieri for the final half), Mourinho accepted the challenge of leading Fenerbahce to rival Galatasaray's current hegemony in Turkish soccer. However, without winning any major titles and a poor performance against Benfica, without qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, the Turks decided to terminate his contract early.

Local reports indicate that there was considerable surprise in the dressing room as the resignation was made with the Turkish league season just beginning, as there had been expectations of a change soon after the end of the previous season. However, the fact that he had not played in the Champions League since 2008/2009 was the determining factor in the radical decision, with the club's management not content with another year in the Europa League.

Mourinho hasn't adapted quickly to the new reinforcements

With this decision, it is clear that Fenerbahce were hoping to qualify for the Champions League as a mandatory factor, due to the signings made during the transfer window. The arrivals of Jhon Duran (on loan from Al Nassr), Nelson Semedo (Wolves) Sofyan Amrabat (Fiorentina), Edson Alvarez (on loan from West Ham) and Skriniar (PSG) show that the squad has been assembled with the intention of being a competitive team in the Champions League, not to mention the permanent signing of Victor Osimhen.

On the other hand, José Mourinho seems to have been unable to cope with the departures of Edin Dzeko and Dusan Tadic, veterans who were playing a key role on the pitch, and problems between the coach and the club's management facilitated their dismissal at this early stage of the season.
