FC Cincinnati travel to Gillette Stadium to take on New England Revolution this Saturday in the MLS as the Orange and Blue hold two different spots in the MLS contest standings. The Orange and Blue currently boast 30 points from 17 games to remain in second place in the Eastern Conference but travel with vulnerable form having lost the past four games sequentially and conceding nine goals in three of their recent games.
In the process, 11th-placed Revolution with 23 points from 15 games have completely altered their story. They are now on an nine-match unbeaten run in which they have won five of the games with six shutouts in the process that has seen them back in the playoff contention zone in spite of having played two games less than the rest of competition.
Numerous different
New England's recent loss was on April 5 in an ironic 1–0 defeat to Cincinnati in TQL Stadium. The team has turned things around since then with some changes, some balance, and none lost since then. Pat Noonan's team on the other hand has suffered an unexpected dip in form. Following seven wins in their first eight games, in May they collected two draws and two defeats in which one was an in-home defeat to DC United that ended 2025's undefeated streak in TQL Stadium for them. The dip left them four points behind conference leaders Philadelphia Union.
Untouched along the trail
Even in this recent downturn, Cincinnati can hold onto one reality that bumps up their stats: They haven’t lost in Gillette Stadium in three years. In 2024, they broke that drought there for the first time since 2019, and since 2022, one win and two draws in Foxborough belong to them. Still, overall on grass surfaces is uncertain. This past year alone saw both of the games played on artificial grass surfaces lost by them, both on the road. Since April of 2022, three wins, two defeats, and seven draws on grass is what’s happened, an upgrade from past years but nonetheless reason to worry.
