With the start of the Premier League approaching, Newcastle have decided to step up their interest in Benjamin Sesko, making him their biggest bet in the transfer window for the 2025/26 season amid the uncertainty surrounding Aleksander Isak, who has even asked to be traded by the Magpies.

It's worth remembering that Newcastle made an initial offer of €75 million plus €5 million in add-ons to RB Leipzig with a view to signing Sesko, but the Bundesliga side ended up denying the proposal, saying that the Magpies would need to increase their offer. According to the latest reports, the English side have made their final offer worth €80 million.

Sesko is also being sought after by Manchester United in the current window, but the Old Trafford side have not made a bid amid a lack of definition as to what is considered the ideal amount to show an interest in falling for Leipzig's overpriced target. However, the fact that Newcastle have made a bid in excess of 80 million euros could put Ruben Amorim's side out of the running for good.

It's important to note that nothing has been agreed yet and there is currently no guarantee that Newcastle will be able to close this deal. On the other hand, the Magpies are in a strong position at the moment, following a day of positive talks between their co-owner Jamie Reuben and Leipzig. Sesko has been the subject of interest from several clubs this summer after scoring 21 goals in all competitions for Leipzig last season.

Newcastle's interest in the 22-year-old striker is long-standing, but the Magpies had said they would only make the investment if Aleksander Isak wanted to leave the club. Liverpool had a formal £110 million bid for Isak rejected on Friday, but the reigning Premier League champions continue to show a strong interest in signing the top scorer.
