It seems that last weekend's meeting was the deciding factor in Nico Williams' decision to quit Bayern

Bayern Munich were very close to signing Nico Williams, one of the most sought-after players in recent transfer windows, due to the striker's decision to avoid signing with any of Athletic Bilbao's direct rivals. However, it seems that Nico has changed his mind and decided to sign for one of Bilbao's biggest rivals in LaLiga.

The latest reports coming out of Germany in the last few hours confirm that Nico Williams has stopped prioritizing a deal with Bayern and is now treating the signing of a contract with Barcelona as an absolute priority. This decision comes as a surprise, especially considering that the reigning LaLiga champions have to comply with financial fair play to avoid major problems.

This turn of events comes after agent Félix Tainta had a meeting with director of soccer Deco, a move to reconnect with Barcelona after some anger over Nico's stay at Bilbao during last season's transfer window.

Barcelona can finally forget about signing Luís Díaz

It's worth noting that Barcelona prioritized the signing of Luis Díaz, currently at Liverpool, in the current window. However, Nico Williams' gesture was decisive for Barcelona to refocus their attentions on the Athletic Bilbao striker, given his willingness to prioritize Hansi Flick's side over the current Bundesliga champions. In other words, they only need to adjust the values to close a much-desired deal.

If nothing else happens, Barcelona will be delighted to have an extremely skilled striker in their squad, both individually and tactically, with the ability to play on the left wing. In addition, it's important to note that Liverpool are making it difficult for Díaz to leave, demanding further discussions about values and the amount of the termination fine in an attempt to prevent the player from leaving, which is another factor in favor of Barça prioritizing the signing of Nico.
