Chelsea fans were no longer able to put up with Nicolas Jackson remaining in their squad due to his underwhelming performances, especially since the second half of last season's Premier League campaign, with his failings at the Club World Cup and the red card he received against Flamengo being key to the Blues' search for a new striker.

With the arrival of João Pedro and other names who could join Cole Palmar in attack, the Nigerian striker was left with absolutely no room to play important games in Enzo Maresca's team. All the signs were that Jackson would be forgotten and have a season as an absolute supporting player, but Bayern Munich thought otherwise and completed a shocking transfer with Chelsea in the last few hours.

According to the latest reports from Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have secured one of the biggest loan deals in the history of world soccer with the negotiation of Nicolas Jackson with Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions will pay an initial €15 million (£13 million) to take the striker on loan for the season. The deal also includes an option to buy Jackson for €65 million (£56.2 million), which means Chelsea could earn up to €80 million (£69 million) in total.

In other words, even if Bayern Munich don't exercise the option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the loan period in June 2026, the Blues will at least receive a considerable sum from the closed loan deal, which is the fourth highest amount ever paid for a temporary transfer. Alvaro Morata has been signed for larger loan sums in the past and tops the charts, with a deal that even involved the Blues, when the club received €18 million from Atlético de Madrid.
