Hirving "Chucky" Lozano scored in the 95th minute to give San Diego FC a winning score of 2-1 against LA Galaxy this Saturday at Snapdragon Stadium. The team confirms its invincibility against this Californian opponent this 2025 and solidifies its winning streak in MLS.
San Diego moved into second spot in the Western Conference with a point tally of 27 after the win. Galaxy remained at the bottom with a record of four points and 13 losses.
It was a dramatic finish for the hometown faithful, not necessarily because of the late score, but because of what this game was all about: another sign that a club, even one in its inaugural season, is starting to build depth and character at critical moments.

Opening half with two scores within two minutes
Their first highlight for the match came in the 40th minute, when Marco Reus released Diego FagĂșndez at the edge of the box. The player was presented with a pass, beat a defender, then scored perfectly in the corner. A beautiful strike to stop scoring against LA Galaxy.
San Diego struck back quickly. In a matter of seconds, Luca de la Torre was brought down to the right side of the box and released a ferocious finish into the near post, leveling matters in style.
Lozano plays excellently at both ends of the pitch
Lozano's mobility was conspicuous in the second half, though. Aside from participating in the attack, he took a defensive action, leaving everyone in the stadium in awe. On a recovery run, he ran a large part of the field to chase after Gabriel Pec and was able to recover efficiently. A few minutes later, he got a yellow card after a tussle with Marco Reus.
No. 11's effort level and work rate may have impressed head coach Mikey Varas. That kind of attitude will give a club its identity in its first season in MLS, he feels.
Everyone initially must understand that this is a massive moment for this club. These are moments which clubs are made out of. These are moments you never ever forget, moments which provide a boost to a area and turn a club into reality.
His standout piece of play throughout the game was also identified by the coach.
"But, like you said, my favorite moment from the game was Hirving catching up to Pec. Yellow card, 70 yards, sliding tackle, those are plays that build teams. That's legacy to me, in terms of how Hirving sees himself out there."
Stoppage time winner ensures a win As the match was drifting towards a stalemate, San Diego had more vigor at this moment in order to force a win. At the 95th minute, a floated pass by Dreyer into the penalty area was met by a willing participant in Lozano, who was perfectly placed to score from close distance, scoring the winning goal with a season tally of direct contribution standing at 11 (six assists, five goals) behind team top scorer Dreyer.
