DC United have shown great interest in signing Paul Pogba and the MLS are close to having another big star in their league. However, the latest reports indicate that the Frenchman is very close to ending his two-year absence from soccer and is likely to sign for a major rival of PSG in Ligue 1.

Everything indicates that the next few hours will be decisive for one of the key players in France's 2018 World Cup triumph to agree a contract with Monaco, thus marking his return to professional soccer after a four-year suspension for doping by the Italian anti-doping tribunal in September 2023, having tested positive for high levels of testosterone while playing for Juventus.

Juventus could have afforded to keep Pogba after his suspension was reduced by 18 months following an appeal in October last year, but Juve decided to bring forward the end of his contract in November last year following a mutual agreement, making the Serie A side his last club in world soccer so far.

The 32-year-old's negotiations with Monaco are the perfect opportunity for Pogba to demonstrate his talent in front of the French fans, seeking a chance to catch Didier Deschamps' eye once again and get a new opportunity in the France squad for next year's World Cup.

It's also worth noting that Pogba's name has been directly associated with teams competing in the Club World Cup in the United States and some Saudi clubs, but negotiations with Monaco are progressing considerably, with a return being sealed in the next few days. If the signing goes through, it will be the first time Pogba has played in Ligue 1 since 2009, when he left Le Havre to build on his historic spell at Manchester United.
