At Providence Park, with a record-setting crowd of 21,811 watching, the Portland Thorns took down the Seattle Reign 4-2 in the 43rd chapter of the Cascadia Rivalry. The victory handed Portland three crucial points, keeping them in fifth place in the NWSL standings, while the Reign remain in seventh.

It also came with a handful of milestones for the home side. The Thorns have now gone 10 straight regular-season home matches without a loss (7 wins, 3 draws), the longest run in club history, and stretched their unbeaten streak at home against Seattle to five.

This one also went into the books as the highest-scoring match in the rivalry’s history with six goals, and it marked the first time this year Portland came from behind to win.

Comeback built on pressure and sharp finishing

Seattle came out sharper and got on the board early. Fishlock spotted Adames with space in the box, and the 19-year-old forward slipped past Arnold before slotting it home for the opener. Portland didn’t sit back. They pushed forward, and in the 18th minute, Coffey buried a penalty into the bottom right corner to pull level. The pressure didn’t let up. Eight minutes later, Turner connected with a cross from Fleming and tucked it away, flipping the score and sending the crowd into full voice.

When play resumed, the Thorns picked up right where they left off, pressing high and forcing mistakes. Ten minutes into the half, Reyes was in the right spot to nod home after the ball fell loose inside the area, making it 3-1.

The Reign found a lifeline in the 64th minute when Fishlock dove to head in a cross and cut the gap to one. But that hope lasted barely a heartbeat. Straight from the restart, Sugita threaded a pass to Pietra Tordin, and the rookie calmly finished to restore the two-goal cushion.

The rest of the way, Portland kept the ball moving, managed the tempo, and saw out a win that will stick in the memory for the way it unfolded.
