The championship has begun for AC Milan who faced Torino, with new coach Paolo Vanoli, at home.

The Rossoneri have also changed their coach. To replace Stefano Pioli, the role was entrusted to Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca, who already had experience in Serie A with AS Roma.

AC Milan started with a very attacking formation.

In fact, Fonseca fielded four offensive players: Chukwueze, Pulisic, Leao and Jovic.

While Theo Hernandez, Reijnders and new striker, European champion with the Spanish national team, Alvaro Morata remained on the bench.

However, the first clear chance was created by the home team following a corner kick with a shot too high by Rafael Leao who wasted it from close range.

Subsequently, the Torino began to calmly manage the ball, easily evading the not particularly organized pressing of the Rossoneri.

So Torino took courage and then found the opening goal.

In the 30th minute, a quick exchange on the left side of the pitch led to the cross on the other side where the former Bellanova headed and the ball hit the post, after which an error by the German defender Malick Thiaw led to an own goal.

AC Milan tried to react and managed to come close to equalizing with an initiative by Rafael Leao who beat two opposing defenders and then finished on goal, finding the opposing goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic Savic prepared.

Shortly after, Torino came close to scoring another goal twice.

Both opportunities, first a powerful, but central, header from striker Duvan Zapata and then Ivan Ilic's treacherous long-range shot, were defused by great saves from French goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

The second half resumed without any substitutions for each team.

Compared to the first half of the game, this time the pressing of the AC Milan players appeared more decisive, so much so that an error in the positioning of the Torino defenders allowed Christian Pulisic to find himself in front of the opposing goalkeeper.

However, the American wasted the opportunity by kicking out.

Shortly afterwards another opportunity, again for Pulisic himself, was wasted with a left-footed shot that grazed the crossbar.

After the first hour of play passed without finding any further openings, Fonseca brought in Reijnders, Thèo Hernandez and Morata.

Yunus Musah and Noah Okafor also joined later.

Despite the changes, it was Torino who found the net in the 68th minute with a header from Zapata who found himself a few steps from the goal and didn't waste the chance.

The atmosphere in the stadium became a little tense as no one expected a double disadvantage in the debut match.

Nonetheless, the AC Milan players continued to attack insistently, even bringing numerous players into the final area of the pitch and thus exposing themselves to dangerous counterattacks from the visiting team.

This attitude, although very risky, borne fruit.

In the 89th minute, the Rossoneri's first goal arrived with an intelligent touch from Morata who deflected Reijnders' long-range shot into the goal.

In the last minutes, the home team put on a real siege which led the equalizer, with a great volley from Okafor who was capable of converting the cross from Musah into a goal.
