With Gareth Southgate announcing he was leaving the role of England manager, the search is on for a replacement with Tottenham's Ange Postecoglou on the rumored list.
However, the Spurs boss is only thinking about preparing for the upcoming season.
"I am at the start of pre-season and am the Tottenham manager, so I have got nothing else but trying to bring success to this football club," said Postecoglou.
"Until I do that, there is no point in me thinking about anything else. I had a nap this afternoon so I have no idea what is going on."
Postecoglou had a decent debut season with Spurs, guiding them to a fifth place finish. It landed them a spot in the Europa League and did it in their first season without Harry Kane who left to join Bayern Munich.
It should come as no surprise that Postecoglou is on the England FA's shortlist as he also has prior experience managing a national team. He did a four-year spell with Australia from 2013 to 2017, winning the Asian Cup in 2015.
“I enjoyed my time. I had four great years. We won the Asian Cup and qualified for the World Cup, but with all these things there is always a natural end, and I thought it was a natural end for me there," Postecoglou said. "I loved coaching the national team. In the future, who knows? Five years ago I was in Japan, and now I am in the Premier League.”
Postecoglou is renowned for his man management and ability to motivate his team. It's something that would translate well with England as one could argue it was one of Southgate's greatest successes while in charge. He managed to build a cohesive dressing room regardless of club loyalties. Former England players have detailed the fractures in the dressing room because of where they played.
The Tottenham manager is one of a handful of options the FA is juggling to take over from Southgate. With Postecoglou as one of them, it's a definite sign of the type of manager they are pursuing.
