It was the first major league match for FC Internazionale, who had the intention of continuing the streak of positive results obtained.

For its part, Atalanta showed up in Milan with the aim of returning to victory after an unexpected defeat against Torino the previous matchday.

Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez returned to the starting lineup for Inter, forming the attacking duo with the Frenchman Marcus Thuram.

The match immediately started off downhill for the home team due to an own goal by defender Berat Djimsiti who tried to intervene on a pass from the opponents and instead left his own goalkeeper out of action.

Inter immediately took the lead in the third minute of play.

The lead gave greater conviction to the home team who continued to persistently attack the defense of the visiting team in various points.

In the 10th minute, the second goal arrived with a splendid volley with the left foot by midfielder Nicolò Barella.

The two goals completely demoralized the Atalanta players who had not shown, up to that point, any noteworthy resourcefulness.

Subsequently, Atalanta tried to push forward with some attempts with Davide Zappacosta and Mateo Retegui but in truth they risked conceding a third goal with a shot from Marcus Thuram that hit the post.

Thus ended a first half dominated by the home team who immediately found two goals and then managed ball possession very well without running any particular risks.

The second half resumed exactly as the match had started.

In fact, in the 47th minute Marcus Thuram found the goal for 3-0 with a quick touch in front of goal as he anticipated his opponent, taking advantage of an Atalanta defense that was truly inadequate on the occasion.

In the 56th minute, Thuram scored another.

Also in this case, an involuntary defensive phase of the visiting team was an accomplice, which proved to be completely in need of revision.

From this point on, the game did not offer anything particularly interesting, except for a disallowed goal for Inter due to an offside. The victory for Inter was concise and statement worthy.

The team coached by Simone Inzaghi obtained its second consecutive victory in the championship, keeping a clean sheet and temporarily climbing to the top of the standings, awaiting the match between Juventus and AS Roma.

For Atalanta it was second consecutive defeat who must also face the problem regarding the unavailability of numerous players due to muscular problems and transfer market hassles.

The international break arrives, after which Inter will be busy with two away matches against Monza and Manchester City.
