Sure, it may have been a preseason friendly but regardless of what stage of the season it is, an El Clasico is always a match both sides want to win.

Barcelona continued their dominance in these preseason meet-ups as the Catalan side beat Real Madrid 2-1.

Pau Victor, who Barcelona only recently signed from Girona, scored twice in the win.

Victor's first goal was a bit fortunate as Alex Valle sent in a cross destined for Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker was left in front of goal but his attempt was poor. So poor that it ended up playing in his favor as it turned into an assist for Victor who headed it in.

The trio would all be involved in Barcelona's second goal as Lewandowski got the ball in midfield and with a nice turn, spotted Alex Valle all alone on the right side. Valle then delivered a precise cross with his left foot for Victor who scuffed his shot a bit but it was enough to get past Thibaut Courtois.

"If you tole me a year ago that I would be scoring twice against Courtois in a Clasico in the United States, I wouldn't have believed you," Victor said after the match. "I am very proud of what I'm doing, I've dreamed about this moment all my life. I'll continue to give everything. I'll give my all in every training session."

Barcelona were the better team throughout the match. Real Madrid got a consolation goal in the 82nd minutes as Nico Paz was left completely unmarked on a corner. It's something Hansi Flick is certainly going to want to correct before the start of the season.

This was Flick's first Clasico win as Barcelona manager and Barcelona's second win in their preseason tour.

But the standout is Pau Victor who could be on a similar trajectory as teammate Fermin Lopez. Lopez scored a great goal in a preseason Clasico last season and impressed then manager Xavi Hernandez so much that he stayed on with the team.

In part because of injuries, Lopez was able to show what he could do during the latter part of last season and impressed. So much so he was part of the Spain squad that won EURO 2024 and is having an impact with Spain in the Olympics.

This could be the start of something for Pau Victor. He can play all three positions in attack and looks to have overtaken Vitor Roque in the pecking order.

He'll have another opportunity to make an impression on Thursday when Barcelona take on AC Milan in their third, and final, preseason game in the United States.
