The Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening witnessed Manchester City host derby rivals Manchester United. Usually, the mood before a derby is fierce, and fans of both teams expect a thrilling competition. The game on Sunday was nothing short of the same as fans witnessed City deliver a spirited performance to come from behind.

The action at the Etihad began in United's favor as Marcus Rashford gave them a lead in the 8th minute. The 26-year-old English national attempted a long shot against the run of play, which first hit the crossbar, after which it found its way inside the net. While this goal gave United the much-needed confidence against a team like City, the latter made sure to maintain pressure.

In the second half, Manchester City came close to equalizing on two occasions. However, a shocking miss from Erling Haaland denied City the opportunity to do so. It was only in the second half that the defending Premier League Champions found their first goal of the night. A brilliant shot by Phil Foden from outside the box ensured City equalized to make the score 1-1.

Not only did this goal give Manchester City a much-deserved equalizer, but it also set the tone for the goals to follow. After dominating possession and creating chances, a brilliant one-two passing display between Julian Alvarez and Phil Foden saw Manchester City get its second goal. Even though it wasn't a long shot, this goal by Foden was pleasing to watch.

Later, just when everyone thought the game was heading towards a 2-1 victory, Amrabat made a mistake, which Rodri capitalized. After stealing the ball near United's box, Rodri played a brilliant pass to Haaland who was able to finish this time and help City register a 3-1 victory over their derby rivals.

With this victory, Manchester City have ensured they keep up with table toppers Liverpool. Currently, the team from Merseyside is in first with 63 points, whereas City finds themselves second with 61 points. All upcoming Premier League games until the end of the season will be crucial to decide who walks home with the trophy.
