After four years and over 150 appearances for the club, which initially began as a year with an option of one more, the Brazilian defender has decided it is time to part ways with the club.

Silva joined Chelsea in 2020, and went on to enjoy a memorable four years at the club, winning the Champions League alongside Tuchel. This came after they narrowly missed out on the trophy in 2020 with PSG. Silva also added the Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup to his collection of trophies.

Despite a change in ownership and several player departures under Todd Boehly, Silva remained a key player. He even stepped into a leadership role on several occasions, despite not being the official captain. Injuries to Reece James and Ben Chilwell created opportunities for Silva's experience to shine with the younger players.

In a video message released by the club, Silva expressed his love for Chelsea and his pride in remaining part of the Chelsea family. His sons, Isago and Iago, will continue playing for the club's youth teams.

While leaving as a player, Silva hinted at a possible return in another capacity. Despite past criticisms of the team and management by him and his wife, Silva's departure seems amicable. His age and recent performances likely played a role in the decision. However, Silva's exit is still a loss for Chelsea, given his experience.

With the season winding down, there are worries Silva might have already played his last game. He picked up an injury against Aston Villa that could sideline him, but the club hasn't confirmed anything yet.
