6. Piotr Zieliński
Napoli's 2023-24 season has been a chastening antithesis to their title win last season. The club is currently in 9th place having scored only 30 goals in their first 20 league games this season. At the same time last season, they had scored 49.
A key cog in Napoli's title win last season was Piotr Zieliński. The Polish midfielder was Napoli's third-highest goal contributor last season (11) and the second-highest assister (8) last season. This season, he has contributed five goals in 24 games. But his overarching numbers indicate he has been performing better with 4.85 shot-creating actions placing him in the top 1% of midfielders in Europe and a xG+xA ratio of 0.31 (1 goal contribution every three games) per 90.
If that doesn't pull Napoli out of their snooze, Zieliński's days at Naples could be numbered with the midfielder's contract up at the end of the season with reports suggesting that the midfielder has agreed personal terms with Inter amid interest from Juventus for his signature in the summer.
