A good omen for PSG supporters. This will be the fifth European Cup or Champions League Final held in Munich, and each of the previous four have seen a first-time winner crowned: Nottingham Forest in '79, Marseille in '93, Dortmund in '97 and most-recently Chelsea in 2012.

This will be Inter's seventh final appearance and each time, including this year, their opponents have been chasing a treble. I Nerazzurri beat Real Madrid in 1964, Benfica a year later and Bayern Munich in 2010, but lost to Celtic in 1967, Ajax in 1972 and Manchester City two years ago.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Inter Milan preview

It's time for the 70th UEFA Champions League Final, with Munich providing the perfect, picturesque setting, but will it be Paris or Pazza Inter who prevail come Saturday night?

Paris Saint-Germain are set to feature in only their second-ever final, beaten by Bayern Munich behind-closed-doors five years ago. This time round, les Rouge-et-Bleu have already played 16 matches en route to Munich, collecting just four points from their first five league phase fixtures, on the brink, only for victories over RB Salzburg, Manchester City and Stuttgart the see them progress.

Then, in the knockouts, after dismantling Brest 10-0 on aggregate, a record breaking scoreline, Luis Enrique's side have since overcome a trio of English side, ousting Liverpool on penalties, Aston Villa 5-4 and then Arsenal 3-1 in the semi-finals. This is les Parisiens' 13th attempt to win the Champions League under Qatari ownership, with many making them favourites to do just that in Bavaria.

Domestically, PSG's monopolisation of silverware continued last weekend, swatting aside Reims in the Coupe de France Final, with Bradley Barcola scoring twice in three minutes, before Achraf Hakimi secured victory on the cusp of half time. Having won the Trophée des Champions in January and finished 19 points clear at the top of Ligue 1, PSG have now secured 35 of the last 43 French trophies up for grabs, but it's European glory they crave above all else, so will this finally be their year?

As for Internazionale Milano, they're chasing a fourth European Cup, going back-to-back in the mid-60s before the historic treble achieved under José Mourinho in 2010. In the subsequent decade and a half, Champions League glory has been I Nerazzurri's holy grail, coming close just two seasons ago, when they were narrow beaten by Manchester City in İstanbul, a defeat that still hurts to this day.

As they dream of going one better, Inter finished fourth in the league phase, 11 places better off than their opponents, conceding just a solitary goal across these eight fixture. Simone Inzaghi's side then smashed Feyenoord and ousted Bayern Munich 4-3, before an all-time great semi-final against Barcelona. Both the tie at Montjuïc and San Siro finished 3-3, but only after Francesco Acerbi bundled in a 93rd minute equaliser, thereby forcing extra time, during which Davide Frattesi slotted home the goal that saw his side progress 7-6, sparking wild scenes of celebration in front of the Curva Nord.

Now though, Inter require victory in Bavaria to avoid a trophyless season. As recently as 23 April, they were dreaming of emulating Mourinho's treble, but were dumped out of the Coppa Italia semi-finals by A.C. Milan that night, before missing out on the Scudetto last Friday, finishing just one point adrift champions Napoli. So, will Inter's grit or Paris' joie de vivre see them crowned kings of Europe?

Paris Saint-Germain vs Inter Milan head-to-head record

These two clubs have never previously met in a competitive fixture.

Paris Saint-Germain team news

Aside from in goal, where Matvei Safonov got the nod over Gianluigi Donnarumma, Luis Enrique picked his strongest lineup at Stade de Frane last Saturday, expected to change very little here.

The only other alteration will come out-wide, because Khvicha Kvaratskhelia sat out the Coupe de France Final due to a concussion, but will return on the left-wing. On the opposite side, despite the fact Bradley Barcola scored twice against Reims, Désiré Doué has seemingly usurped him in the pecking order.

Achraf Hakimi will face the side with whom he won a Scudetto, while this'll be Marquinhos' 107th Champions League appearance, all coming for PSG. Only Gianluigi Buffon and Zlatan Ibrahimović have made more without ever winning the competition, but will the Brazilian be hoisting the trophy aloft come Saturday night?

Paris Saint-Germain predicted lineup vs Inter Milan: (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; João Neves, Vitinha, Fabián; Doué, Kvaratskhelia, Dembélé.

Paris Saint-Germain player to watch vs Inter Milan

Ousmane Dembélé has been PSG's main man for goals this season, scoring 33 in all competitions, including eight in the Champions League. while he was on target the last time he faced Inter, this in the Blaugrana of Barcelona at Camp Nou in October 2022.

Inter Milan team news

Simone Inzaghi opted for a very different approach to his opposite number, pretty much putting out a B-team at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia last Friday night, despite the fact they could've won the title in Como. Only time will tell if attempting to keep his key players fresh was the right decision.

First things first, Benjamin Pavard and Piotr Zieliński both remain sidelined, while captain Lautaro Martínez has not featured since the second leg against Barça due to a hamstring injury, but is expected to partner Marcus Thuram in attack.

That issue aside, Inzaghi's first-choice lineup is set in stone, with Yann Bisseck, Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Federico Dimarco the only outfield players forecast to keep their places from Friday.

Inter Milan predicted lineup vs Paris Saint-Germain: (3-5-2): Sommer; Acerbi, Bisscek, Bastoni; Dumfries, Çalhanoğlu, Mkhitaryan, Barella, Dimarco; Thuram, Martínez.

Inter Milan player to watch vs Paris Saint-Germain

Even though he's unlikely to be full fit, Lautaro Martínez remains Inter's danger man. He has scored 22 goals this season, nine of which have come in the Champions League, becoming I Nerazzurri's all-time record European scorer, so can he fire them to glory in Munich?

Paris Saint-Germain vs Inter Milan prediction

We are backing PSG for victory in Bavaria. Each of the last six Champions League Finals have been won to nil, with another low-scoring affair forecast here too, and we believe Paris' attacking firepower will be enough to see them overcome Inter in the end: Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 Inter Milan.
