The clash between Juventus and Milan in Turin ended scoreless but carried plenty of meaning. The 0-0 draw at the Allianz Stadium had everything you’d expect from a meeting between Serie A giants, yet it also left one name in the spotlight: Christian Pulisic. The American, Milan’s biggest star and a key figure for the USMNT, had the chance to seal a win that would’ve kept the Rossoneri at the top, but he missed a penalty in the second half.

Balance and wasted chances

The match began with tight marking from both sides. Milan arrived in Turin full of confidence after beating Napoli and kept an organized shape, moving the ball around and trying to find space through Pulisic and Giménez. Juventus responded with intensity, using the flanks and testing from mid-range.

The home team created good opportunities. Conceição crossed to David, but Pavlović cut it out. Moments later, Rabiot fired from distance, sending the ball over the bar. Milan answered with a solo run from Giménez, stopped by Di Gregorio. Kalulu crossed again for David, who slipped just as he was about to shoot. The Rossoneri came closest when Pavlović delivered a cross for Giménez, whose header skimmed past the post.

Both teams showed defensive discipline and tried to control the tempo, but the score stayed even at halftime.

A missed penalty and a shared result

After the break, Juventus came out pressing and threatened early. Gatti fired from close range, forcing a big save from Maignan. Shortly after, Giménez was brought down inside the box, and the referee pointed to the spot. Pulisic stepped up but sent the ball over the crossbar, wasting Milan’s best chance of the game.

The forward had another effort saved by Di Gregorio soon after. Allegri made changes, bringing on Leão and Nkunku to refresh the attack. Leão tried from long range and later had another look inside the box, but the keeper denied him again. In stoppage time, Modrić found Leão in a good position, but his shot lacked power and was easily collected.

The cost of the USMNT star’s mistake

The result proved costly. Milan dropped to second place, overtaken by Napoli, while Juventus stayed close behind in fifth.

The Rossoneri remain unbeaten in Serie A and continue to show defensive strength. The team hasn’t conceded in four of its first six matches, matching a record achieved only in the 2006-07 season. Even so, the draw in Turin cost Milan the top spot.

Pulisic, Milan’s standout player this season with six goals and two assists in seven matches, had an off day. The missed penalty defined the game but doesn’t erase his strong form. The forward now joins the USMNT for friendlies against Ecuador and Australia. He’s the team captain and the most experienced player on the current roster, with 80 appearances for his country.
