Carlo Ancelotti unveiled Brazil's first list of players for the coming FIFA window and stated his intention to look further ahead than next games. The list submitted to the CBF shows three scenarios for Real Madrid players: Vinícius Júnior rests, Éder Militão returns after months of recovery, and Rodrygo returns even with continued inquiries.
Vini suspended and altitude-spared
Vinícius played a crucial role as Brazil beat Paraguay in June with the goal which saw them qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Yet, he had been yellow-carded and is subsequently suspended for this match against Chile at the Maracanã. Because of this, the management also decided not to play him against Bolivia in La Paz, whose 4,100-meter height is utilized to exhaust even the most powerful players.
It makes sense practically. With no chance of playing Chile, it didn't make sense to send him into a physically taxing match in Bolivia. In the short term, fans will miss Brazil's largest star on the field, but putting the World Cup cycle into context, the decision is obvious.

Militão and Rodrygo
With Vinícius staying behind in Madrid, Rodrygo and Militão are given room in the team. The defender is returning from a second knee surgery and is gradually getting his rhythm back. He had played 90 minutes in a preseason game against WST Tirol, had scored a goal, and was sharp. Previously, he had already taken to the field for a brief stint against PSG.
Militão’s inclusion reflects the trust Ancelotti places in him. It’s fair to say the coach sees the defender as one of the foundations for the next cycle. His return to the national team feels natural, but it’s still significant: only with regular games and training will it be possible to confirm he’s truly back.
Rodrygo’s case is different. He wasn't selected in the last one following a private talk with Ancelotti, in which both agreed he wasn't in his best physical, mental, or technical condition. At Real Madrid he was losing playing space, for the national team he never had a place, and his last performances have been terrible. Still, he's back in the pre-list. Vinícius's absence creates a space in attack, and now he has the chance to show that he can make his contribution.
The problem is that Rodrygo is entering under pressure. Fans have seen his ability, but never the consistency to warrant the starring role.
