Real Madrid takes charge and dictates La Liga's rhythm

The title battle is not over yet. The 2-0 win came in a composed, smart performance, highlighted by flashes of individual brilliance. Modric and Vini Jr. got the goals, yet this victory was built from every area of the pitch.

The first half was intense from the start. Girona tried to surprise them early on but was denied by Courtois, who once again demonstrated why he's one of the most reliable goalkeepers in soccer. Real Madrid responded in kind, Mbappé and Vini Jr. combined with quick interchanges and nearly opened the scoring, but Gazzaniga kept Girona in the game.

It was a stroke of brilliance that ultimately led them to break through. In the 41st minute, Modric netted a goal for the ages, a first-time screamer from outside the box, with the goalkeeper not standing a chance. The Bernabéu erupted as Madrid's dominance was finally rewarded.

Vini Jr.: speed, skill, and decision-making

If the first half belonged to Modric, the second was Vini Jr.'s. The Brazilian showed exactly what is expected of a player of his caliber, electric pace, dazzling dribbles, and the ability to make the difference when it matters. He kept the Girona defense on their toes, hit the crossbar, and created a number of chances.

In the 83rd minute, he was rewarded. After a quick one-two with Mbappé, Vini Jr. received the ball in space, finished with precision, and sealed the 2-0 win. It was the killing blow in a game where Madrid preserved its energy, controlled the rhythm, and struck when it had to.

Ancelotti praises Modric and speaks about tactical changes

After the match, Carlo Ancelotti was not holding back in his praise for Luka Modriv, likening him to some of the greats of the sport: "Modric is a gift to soccer and can play for as long as he wants. Real Madrid was blessed to have a legend who defined an era."

The coach even compared the Croatian to Maldini, highlighting how longevity and professionalism have kept him at the top for so long.

Ancelotti also clarified the tactical changes made throughout the game: "In the first half, we had Rodrygo on the left and Brahim on the right. In the second half, Rodrygo went to the right, and Brahim played between the lines, taking Vini Jr.'s position on the wing, where he's very dangerous."

These adjustments created greater fluency moving forward, and Vini Jr. was given more room to capitalize on and make an impact in the final period.
