Roma have won each of their last five home games against Como, with the Biancoblù's most-recent victory over the Giallorossi at the Olimpico coming in 1950, winless in 15 attempts subsequently.

Roma vs Como preview

Two of Serie A's top six go head-to-head in the capital on Monday night in, what promises to be, an intriguing clash. Roma supporters are dreaming of seeing their side claim a first Scudetto since 2001, albeit they've been dealt a dose of reality in recent weeks. Gian Piero Gasperini's side come into this one following back-to-back Serie A defeats, beaten 1-0 by both champions Napoli in the Derby del Sole and then, more disappointingly, at struggling Cagliari last Sunday. This has seen the Lupi slip down to fourth, four points adrift the leaders, thereby under pressure to get back to winning ways.

Well, Roma did enjoy a morale-boosting victory on Thursday, swatting aside a pretty hapless Celtic 3-0 in Glasgow. All the goals came in the first half, including a brace from Evan Ferguson. This takes their Europa League points tally up to 12, knocking on the door of a top eight spot, with games against Stuttgart and Panathinaikos remaining. Now, as they return to domestic matters, can the Giallorossi get their Scudetto hopes back on track with a win here?

Well, that certainly will not be easy considering Como sit sixth, having finished tenth last time round in, what was, their first top-flight campaign for over two decades. Cesc Fàbregas' side enjoyed an 11 match unbeaten streak throughout the entirety of September, October and November, notably beating Juventus 2-0 at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia and then hammering Torino 5-1 on the road.

However, the Biancoblù's unbeaten streak did come to an end last weekend, smashed 4-0 at San Siro, with Inter really flexing their muscles. Nevertheless, that was eight days ago, Roma have been in action twice during this timeframe, meaning Fàbregas has had plenty of preparation time prior to this visit to Rome. So, can Como spring a massive Monday night shock in the capital?

Roma team news

Gian Piero Gasperini made five changes in Glasgow on Thursday, but will be pleased that this fixture is a Monday night match, giving his players a little bit more rest.

Here, Zeki Çelik is suspended, following his red card against Cagliari, while Leon Bailey could return in attack, with Evan Ferguson hoping his double against Celtic sees him keep his place.

Roma predicted lineup vs Como: (3-4-2-1): Svillar; Mancini, Hermoso, Ndicka; Wesley, Koné, Cristante, Tsimikas; Bailey, Dybala, Ferguson.

Roma player to watch vs Como

Paulo Dybala has scored 130 goals in his Serie A career, a tally only bettered by 41 men and only eight non-Italian internationals. These goals have been scored against 30 different opponents but never Como, so can he add them to the list?

Como team news

Cesc Fàbregas is without centre-back Edoardo Goldaniga and centre-forward Álvaro Morata due to injury, while Man City loanee Máximo Perrone is suspended due to yellow card accumulation.

Nico Paz

After Morata hobbled off at San Siro, Anastasios Douvikas will lead the line, with Jayden Addai likely to keep his place over former Celtic winger Nicolas Kühn out-wide.

Como predicted lineup vs Roma: (4-2-3-1): Butez; Posch, Diego Carlos, Ramón, Valle; De Cunha, Caqueret, Addai, Paz, Rodríguez; Douvikas.

Como player to watch vs Roma

Nico Paz is the undisputed star of this team, scoring five goals so far this season, to add to the six he bagged last time round. Real Madrid fully intend to activate a buy-back clause in his contract, believed to be around €9 million, next summer but, for now, he'll continue to star for the Lariani.

Roma vs Como prediction

This will be a serious litmus test of Roma's title aspirations, and we are backing them to claim a narrow victory, albeit do not write off Como claiming a shock win at the Olimpico: Roma 2-1 Como.
