Minnesota United won an important 3-2 win against the Seattle Sounders in the 2025 Major League Soccer season at Lumen Field. That was the first time the team won in Seattle and it was their opponents' first home defeat of the season. Three points came in the top-of-table clash against their opponents.
All in one game that was characterized by a frenzied second half, five goals, and changing momentum in succession.
The three points put Minnesota United third on 30, level on points, though still trailing on goal differential, with the Sounders fourth on 26.

Three goals in seven minutes
The first half was exciting, though this was changed after half time. Julian Gressel came in for Bongokuhle Hlongwane and brought the team their new tempo.
Two minutes into the second half, it was the 51st minute, and Bongi was on his own down the right. He allowed play to come to him, then Robin Lod took his man, leaving space for Oluwaseyi in the perfect spot. Bottom corner, left foot, goal.
Within three minutes, though, in the box, Bongi was brought down by Jon Bell. Penalty, no surprise. Lod took it and coolly placed it into the side netting, and Stefan Frei was never to get to it. Two-nil away.
Control in the closing minutes
Minnesota took charge after building up a 3-1 lead. The side adjusted their defence, first preferring to employ five players in defence in the way of a 5-3-2, then switching to employ a 5-4-1. Tactical intervention brought the game level and thwarted the attempt by the home side to create an equalizer.
Seattle scored in the 83rd minute. Georgi Minoungou put in a cross from the right, and there was an own goal by Minnesota defender Romero in trying to clear it. That mistake tied the game at 2-3, but Minnesota was able to keep it until the end to get the win.
