Chelsea have won nine of their last 11 meetings with Tottenham Hotspur, including each of the last four.
Spurs' sole Premier League victory over their fierce rivals since November 2018, when they were still at Wembley, came when Antonio Conte's team beat Graham Potter's side in February 2023. Chelsea are seeking three successive victories in N17 for the first time in two decades.
Tottenham vs Chelsea preview
Despite generally decent starts to the season, neither Tottenham Hotspur nor Chelsea supporters are loving life right now, but a victory over a fierce rival would certainly help improve the mood.
Tottenham Hotspur rather limply crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, swatted aside 2-0 by Newcastle at St James' Park. The first goal, coming from a corner, was controversial in a rather unique way, with referee Chris Kavanagh allowing Djed Spence time to tie his shoelaces, but not sufficient time to get back into position; who knows if that had a material impact. Despite this defeat on Tyneside, it has been home form holding Thomas Frank's team back in Premier League terms.

Since smashing Burnley 3-0 on the opening day, Spurs have failed to win a home league game, held to a draw by bottom of the Wolves, in which they required a 96th minute equaliser, also beaten by both Bournemouth and Aston Villa in North London. Nevertheless, away from home, Tottenham have collected 13 points out of a possible 15, most-recently demolishing Everton 3-0 at Bramley-Moore Dock last Sunday, with Micky van de Ven heading home two corners. This all leaves Frank's team up in third, even if fan mood does not reflect that, so can he claim a statement home win here?
As for Chelsea, they did reach the EFL Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday, prevailing a seven-goal thriller at Molineux. Andrey Santos, Tyrique George and Estêvão Willian all scored in the first half, at which point the Blues looked set to swat Wolves aside, only for the second half to be rather more nervy than it ought to have been, with Jamie Gittens' late goal securing a 4-3 win in the end.

Meantime, in the Premier League, just when Enzo Maresca's side were seemingly building momentum, they were beaten 2-1 by Sunderland at Stamford Bridge last weekend. Alejandro Garnacho even gave them an early lead in that one, only for the Black Cats to snatch a stoppage time winner at the Shed End. This actually makes it three league defeats in five for the Blues, who are thereby all the way down in ninth, albeit a victory in North London would see them join Tottenham on 17 points. This fixture is always a classic, with both sides in desperate need of victory, making it one not to be missed.

Tottenham team news
Thomas Frank remains without Cristian Romero, Yves Bissouma, James Maddison, Dejan Kuluševski and Dominic Solanke due to injury. He didn't rotate very much in the EFL Cup, back-up goalkeeper Antonín Kinský the only non-regular starting, so it'll be interesting to see what h goes for here.

Micky van de Ven will return to defence, after his two goals at Everton last Sunday, while there is still a question mark surrounding the centre-forward spot. Richarlison led the line in the Carabao Cup, but Mathys Tel and Randal Kolo Muani both came off the bench, so who knows who will get the nod.
Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Chelsea: (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, van de Ven, Danso, Spence; Palhinha, Bentancur, Simons; Kudus, Johnson, Tel.
Tottenham player to watch vs Chelsea
Mohammed Kudus has only scored one goal for Spurs, while he failed to net in three meetings with Chelsea during his West Ham career, losing all three, so can he help change that on Saturday?
Chelsea team news
Making his first appearance since August due to injury, Liam Delap was sent off towards the end of Wednesday's EFL Cup tie, an act Enzo Maresca called "stupid". This was the Blues' sixth red card in nine matches, including the one shown to Maresca himself, meaning the striker is suspended, while Levi Colwill, Benoît Badiashile, Dário Essugo and talisman Cole Palmer are all injured.

Marc Guiu could return to lead the attack, having been cup-tied, while Robert Sánchez, Reece James, Marc Cucurella, Moisés Caicedo, Enzo Fernández, Pedro Neto and João Pedro could all also return.
Chelsea predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-2-3-1): Sánchez; James, Adarabioyo, Chalobah, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernández, Neto, João Pedro, Gittens; Guiu.
Chelsea player to watch vs Tottenham
Enzo Fernández scored home and away against Tottenham last season, only netting against Brighton and Aston Villa more frequently, so he'll be key to Chelsea's chances in North London.
Tottenham vs Chelsea prediction
Who is going to win this fierce London derby? We have no idea! This clash should guarantee goals, but we're sitting on the fence and forecasting a high-scoring stalemate: Tottenham 2-2 Chelsea.
