Thomas Tuchel has stayed consistent with the approach that’s defined his time in charge of the England national team. The 25-player list for the upcoming matches against Serbia and Albania, part of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, shows that the coach continues to prioritize rhythm, merit, and physical readiness over reputation. Jude Bellingham is back, Alex Scott has received his first call-up, and Trent Alexander-Arnold has been left out once again.
The Real Madrid fullback has returned to full training after recovering from a physical issue, yet he still wasn’t selected. Alexander-Arnold hasn’t played for England since June and has missed the last three call-ups. Since Tuchel took over, he’s only been on the pitch for 26 minutes.
Bellingham returns and Alex Scott earns his first chance
Bellingham’s return is one of the biggest stories of the list. The 22-year-old Real Madrid midfielder had been absent from the last two squads, first due to shoulder surgery and later by the coach’s decision. Now fully fit, he’s expected to be a central figure in the team. Tuchel emphasized how important it is to have him back. “Big names, big personalities, and a lot of talent. It’s great to see both of them in rhythm, both in good shape, both contributing goals to important wins for their clubs.”

In addition to Bellingham, Tuchel has called up young Alex Scott from Bournemouth for the first time. The 20-year-old midfielder stood out during England’s Under-21 European Championship victory and has established himself as a regular starter for his club this season. Tuchel explained the reasoning behind his inclusion. “He had an excellent European Championship. He won the title and Lee spoke very highly of him. He did a great job in midfield alongside Elliot Anderson, who’s now a regular starter for us.”
England consolidated and focused on the next step
After securing a place in the World Cup with a 5–0 win over Latvia, England will use the matches against Serbia and Albania as the final step before shifting into full preparation mode for 2026. The first match takes place at Wembley on November 13, followed by a trip to Tirana on November 16. The expectation is that Tuchel will take advantage of the FIFA window to test lineups and evaluate individual performances.
The coach expressed his satisfaction with the return of key players and the progress of young talents. “I’m happy to have them back, happy to see them smiling, and happy to see them fit. That’s the foundation for being selected,” he said.
