The Vancouver Whitecaps keep adding chapters to their story in Canadian soccer. A 4-2 win over Vancouver FC at BC Place delivered a fourth straight Canadian Championship crown and the fifth Voyageurs Cup in club history. The victory also punched their ticket to the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup an objective set ever since this year’s continental final.

Ahmed and Müller take the spotlight

The final exploded into life early. Ali Ahmed struck just five minutes in, and he wasn’t finished. His driving run later forced the penalty that Thomas Müller converted, a goal that doubled as the 300th of his career for club and country. The German came to Canada to add experience, and he’s done just that, providing goals, assists, and leadership when it mattered most.

Vancouver FC tried to stay in it. Elage Bah, a former Whitecaps academy product, pulled one back from a Mezquida assist. But the reaction didn’t last. Ahmed struck again before halftime, restoring the cushion and keeping momentum with the hosts. After the break, Vancouver controlled the game’s tempo. Müller kept creating, Sabbi was close to scoring, and the post denied an even bigger lead. The night found its perfect ending when Ryan Gauld returned from months out injured and scored within four minutes of coming on.

A title that cements supremacy

By lifting the Voyageurs Cup again, the Whitecaps became the first team in the modern era to win it four years running, seeing off challenges from both MLS and CPL rivals. The fact that it came against Vancouver FC, in the first derby final between the two, added even more weight.

The triumph extended the unbeaten run to nine matches, five wins, four draws, and underlined the squad’s consistency in spite of injuries and rotation. Müller’s presence has clearly lifted the attack to another level.

On the domestic stage, the Whitecaps have been untouchable. Now attention shifts back to the continental scene. With a place already secured in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup, the club’s project gains new strength, and belief grows that this dominance at home can be the platform for something even greater.
