Aston Villa have won each of their last five meetings with Fulham, the longest streak either side have ever enjoyed in the 120 year history of this fixture, with the Cottagers winning only one of their 19 visits to Villa Park this century, losing each of the last six.
Aston Villa vs Fulham preview
After claiming their first victory of the season on Thursday, can Aston Villa kick-start their Premier League campaign. In mid-week, the Villans picked up three points in their Europa League opener, defeating Bologna 1-0 at home, thanks to John McGinn's strike from outside the area early on. Domestically meantime, Unai Emery's team failed to score in any of their first four league matches, before also being dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Brentford on penalties.
Last Sunday, the Claret and Blue Army did finally have a league goal to cheer, Matty Cash's absolute screamer breaking the deadlock at the Stadium of Light, but they could still only draw 1-1 with Sunderland, despite the fact the hosts played for around an hour down to ten men. Now, Villa have back-to-back home games against Fulham and Burnley, surely targeting these two matches to get six points on the board that would sky-rocket themselves up the table, starting here.

Fulham though will travel to Birmingham looking to make it four wins out of four in September. Last Saturday night, the Cottagers came from a goal down to defeat West London rivals Brentford 3-1, with Alex Iwobi and then Harry Wilson bagging quick-fire goals, before an own goal got the party started. A week earlier, Marco Silva's side had claimed their first league win of the campaign against Leeds, snatching a 1-0 victory at the death, again thanks to an own goal at the Hammersmith End.
Then, on Tuesday night, Fulham booked their place in the EFL Cup fourth round, with Emile Smith Rowe's goal enough to down Cambridge United 1-0 at Craven Cottage. Considering they'll travel to Wycombe Wanderers next month, the Whites will surely fancy their chances of reaching a domestic cup quarter-final for a fourth successive season. Before then, can the Cottagers add to Aston Villa's misery, or will the home side claim a much-needed victory on Sunday?

Aston Villa team news
Unai Emery made four changes against Bologna on Thursday, Marco Bizot, Pau Torres, Ian Maatsen and Donyell Malen coming into the side, so his selection for this one will be interesting.

New signings Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho are yet to start in the Premier League since joining on deadline day, while Victor Lindelöf is still awaiting his debut. Lastly, Belgian duo Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana remain sidelined, very much limiting Emery's midfield options.
Aston Villa predicted lineup vs Fulham: (4-2-3-1): Martínez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Digne; Kamara, McGinn, Guessand, Rogers, Sancho; Watkins.
Aston Villa player to watch vs Fulham
Ollie Watkins is still yet to get off the mark this season, seeing a tame spot-kick saved by Łukasz Skorupski on Thursday, but he has previously netted six times against Fulham, only on target against Brighton with greater frequency, so can he get back on a scoresheet?
Fulham team news
Marco Silva made the full compliment of 11 changes against Cambridge United in the EFL Cup, so did any of those players do enough to force their way into the Premier League XI?

Despite scoring on Tuesday, Emile Smith Rowe could be back on the bench, with Josh King keeping his place, although fit again Antonee Robinson is set to displace Ryan Sessegnon at left-back.
Club-record signing Kevin has certainly looked exciting in brief cameos so far, especially against Leeds on debut, hence why the Brazilian is set to start in the Premier League for the first time.
Fulham predicted lineup vs Aston Villa: (4-3-3): Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Berge, Lukić, Kevin, King, Iwobi; Muniz.

Rodrigo Muniz hasn't scored since netting on the opening day against Brighton, but did find the target during his sole previous encounter with Aston Villa, so could he fire Fulham to an away day win?
