Canada won the first-ever meeting between these two nations 2-0 in Toronto back in 1986. However, Wales won 3-0 in Vancouver just nine days later, with the pair clashing only once subsequently, the Dragons 1-0 winners at the Racecourse Ground in 2004, all coming in friendlies.

Wales vs Canada preview

After claiming a statement victory on the road on Friday night, will Canada win again? To begin this mini-European tour, Jesse Marsch's side swatted aside Romania 3-0 at Arena Națională four nights ago, thereby claiming a first win against European opposition on European soil since 2009. Jonathan David and Ali Ahmed were on target during the first half in București, the latter robbing goalkeeper Horațiu Moldovan before tapping home, with Niko Sigur rubber stamping victory late on.

Les Rouges are stepping-up preparations for next summer's World Cup, with that the first of ten friendlies before the big kick off in Toronto on 12 June. In October, the Canucks will take on Australia and Colombia, so the tough tests keep on coming, but that's what Marsch feels his side needs, as they aim to win a World Cup game for the first time. So, will Canada claim another victory here?

As for Wales, they are very much in the hunt to also be in North America next summer, with some huge games ahead in the coming months. Back on Thursday, Craig Bellamy's team battled to a priceless victory in Astana, beating Kazakhstan 1-0. Kieffer Moore scored the night's only goal mid-way through the first half, before the Dragons survived some nervy moments afterwards.

This means Wales currently sit third in qualifying Group J with ten points out of a possible 15, their sole defeat coming in Brussels in June. Their Nations League performance means the Dragons are pretty much guaranteed play-off spot, even if they fail to secure a top two finish, but they're still in with a shout of qualifying automatically; they'll probably have to beat Belgium in Cardiff next month if they're to achieve this. Before then, a first pair of friendlies since Bellamy's appointment, taking on England at Wembley to commence the October window. Before then, Wales return to Swansea for the first time, excluding behind-closed-doors games, since 2013. They've only won two of eight fixtures at this venue, but will they be too strong for World Cup hosts Canada on Tuesday?

In terms of absentees, Danny Ward, Joe Rodon, Connor Roberts, Ethan Ampadu, Aaron Ramsey, Nathan Broadhead and Rabbi Matondo all miss out due to injury or a lack of match fitness.

Dylan Lawlor started at centre-back in Astana, making his senior international debut, putting in a colossal performance, so expect him to keep his place. First-choice goalkeeper Karl Darlow could win only his nine cap, while winger Sorba Thomas has been the star of Bellamy's reign on the wing.

Wales predicted lineup vs Canada: (4-3-3): Darlow; N Williams, Cabango, Lawlor, Norrington-Davies; Sheehan, J James, Wilson, Brooks, Thomas; Moore.

Kieffer Moore marked his 50th cap by scoring his 15th goal for Wales against Kazakhstan, so will he join Robert Earnshaw, Cliff Jones and Mark Hughes by taking his tally to 16 in Swansea?

Canada team news

In contrast to their hosts, no experimentation for Jesse Marsch, who will deploy, more or less, his strongest available lineup. However, this will not include the injured Alphonso Davies, Alistair Johnston, Moïse Bombito, Cyle Larin nor Daniel Jebbison.

In goal, Maxime Crépeau was donning the gloves against Romania, but usual first-choice Dayne St. Clair is expected to come in for this one. Jacob Shaffelburg can return, having missed the victory in București suspended, following his red card against Guatemala during the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

In attack, Marsch has plenty of options from which to choose, electing to start Tani Oluwaseyi on Friday, but Promise David isn't a bad alternative, having netted against Ukraine and Honduras during the summer, his first two goals for his country.

Canada predicted lineup vs Wales: (4-3-3): St. Clair; Sigur, Cornelius, de Fougerolles, Laryea; Eustáquio, Koné, Buchanan, Ahmed; J David. Oluwaseyi.
