Chelsea have won each of their last three meetings with West Ham, seeking four successive victories for the first time since 2008, while it's a decade since the Blues last enjoyed back-to-back wins in East London, winning only three of ten outings at the London Stadium.

West Ham United vs Chelsea preview

After both made, at best, inauspicious starts to their respective Premier League campaigns, will there be a winner in this Friday night London derby? Chelsea came into this campaign with sky-high hopes, having won both the Conference League and the Club World Cup during the summer. Well, those expectations were tempered somewhat last Sunday when Enzo Maresca's side were held to a goalless draw by Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge, the Eagles seeing a free-kick scandalously disallowed in the first half, a decision that certainly spared Robert Sánchez's blushes.

Chelsea had 72% possession, completing 568 passes, more than double Palace's total, but did very little with it, with only four of their 19 shots finding the target, mustering only two big chances. This sterile style was highly criticised last season, with Chelsea supporters fearing more of the same, so will they score their first goal and claim their first victory of the campaign come Friday night?

Well, an away win does seem the most-likely outcome, given what West Ham produced a week ago. In their season opener, the Hammers were steamrollered 3-0 by newly-promoted Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, second best throughout, even if all the goals came after the interval.

So, since Graham Potter was appointed in January, he has now won just five of 19 Premier League matches in charge, and two of the teams he's beaten are no longer in the division. The Irons lost nine home league games last season, their highest tally since most recently being relegated in 2010/11, and all Hammers in attendance will surely fear that they'll lose their home opener this year.

West Ham United team news

New signings Mads Hermansen and El Hadji Malick Diouf debuted from the start on Wearside last weekend, while Callum Wilson did so off the bench.

Assuming Graham Potter makes changes, Tomáš Souček is set to displace Guido Rodríguez at the base of midfield, while Crysencio Summerville remains sidelined.

West Ham United predicted lineup vs Chelsea: (4-3-3): Hermansen; Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Aguerd, Diouf; Ward-Prowse, Souček, Paquetá; Bowen, Füllkrug.

West Ham United player to watch vs Chelsea

Jarrod Bowen will continue to be West Ham's primary source of goals, on target during a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge in February, so could he fire the Hammers to victory this time?

Chelsea team news

Even with Levi Colwill sidelined long-term due to a ruptured ACL, while Tosin Adarabioyo was out too, it was still a surprise to see teenager Josh Acheampong get the nod at centre-back last Sunday.

Meantime, Jamie Gittens and João Pedro made their first starts for Chelsea, with fellow new recruits Andrey Santos, Estêvão Willian and Liam Delap all introduced off the bench. Enzo Maresca certainly has options at his disposal, so will he shake things up?

Chelsea predicted lineup vs West Ham United: (4-3-3): Sánchez; James, Adarabioyo, Chalobah, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernández, Estêvão, Palmer, Neto; João Pedro.

Chelsea player to watch vs West Ham United

Cole Palmer remains without an open play Premier League goal since January, but he has scored during two of his three appearances against West Ham for the club, so will he end that barren run?

West Ham United vs Chelsea prediction

As outlined throughout, West Ham are a complete mess at the moment, so we cannot see them getting anything from this one, with a comfortable Chelsea win likely: West Ham United 0-3 Chelsea.
