Newcastle United are unbeaten in six visits to the London Stadium, winning four of them, with West Ham managing only four home wins over the Magpies in 18 attempts since 2001.
West Ham vs Newcastle preview
In both 2003 and 2011, West Ham United were deemed to be too good to go down, so is history repeating itself? Well, at the moment, this team don't appear to be too good for anything! Last week was one of the most miserable supporters could imagine, first easily swatted aside 2-0 by Brentford at home in one of the most one-sided Premier League matches you're ever likely to see. Then, last Friday night, the Hammers found themselves 2-0 down inside 15 minutes against Leeds, shambolic at the back again, with Mateus Fernandes' deft header coming too late to salvage anything.

This all means the Irons have yielded just a solitary point from their last six matches, this earned by holding Everton to a 1-1 draw at Bramley-Moore Dock in Nuno Espírito Santo's first match in charge. If the Portuguese coach did not know he has a massive job on his hands already, he certainly does now, with West Ham's only win of the season coming over Nuno's Nottingham Forest in August. All of this leaves the Hammers in the relegation zone, making this fixtures, as well as next Saturday's claret clash with Burnley in East London, potentially season-defining, even at this early stage.
As for Newcastle United, they're yet to win a Premier League away games this season but, given the above, they'll be confident of changing that fact. On Wednesday night, the Magpies reached the EFL Cup quarter-finals, overcoming Tottenham 2-0 at St James' Park, thanks to goals from Fabian Schär and then Nick Woltemade. That's now four successive home wins for Eddie Howe's team, including beating Fulham 2-1 on Tyneside last weekend; Bruno Guimarães firing home a last-gasp winner.

On the road however, the Toon Army's first three Premier League away games all finished goalless, just the second top-flight English club to do this, before being beaten 2-1 by Brighton a fortnight ago. This inconsistency leaves them down in 12th place, albeit just four points below the Champions League spots, so are looking to build some momentum. Thus, it would be a major surprise if Newcastle did not win this one, but that is more a reflection of West Ham.

West Ham team news
Having had nine days to prepare for this crucial clash, it'll be fascinating to see what changes Nuno Espírito Santo makes to his startling lineup.

Oliver Scarles is sidelined, after suffering a fractured collar bone against Leeds, joining Konstantinos Mavropanos and striker Niclas Füllkrug in the treatment room.
Despite the absence of the latter, Callum Wilson is still yet to start under Nuno, albeit he was introduced after 25 minutes at Elland Road, so could he lead the line against his former side?
West Ham United predicted lineup vs Newcastle United: (4-3-3): Areola; Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Diouf; Magassa, Fernandes, Souček; Bowen, Paquetá, Summerville.
West Ham player to watch vs Newcastle
Jarrod Bowen remains West Ham's shinning light, perhaps their only, although he's only ever scored once in 11 attempts againt Newcastle, this coming during a 4-3 defeat at St James' Park two seasons ago.
Newcastle team news
Eddie Howe remains without Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall and Yoane Wissa due to injury, while he went strong for the mid-week Carabao Cup tie, with back-up goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale the only non-regular to start.

Sven Botman, Kieran Trippier, Joelinton, Bruno Guimarães and Anthony Gordon will all return, while Jacob Murphy's goal against Fulham could see him get the nod over Harvey Barnes and Anthony Elanga in attack.
Newcastle United predicted lineup vs West Ham United: (4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Thiaw, Botman, Burn; Tonali, Guimarães, Joelinton; Murphy, Woltemade, Gordon.
Newcastle player to watch vs West Ham

West Ham vs Newcastle prediction
As outlined throughout, we cannot see any other outcome then a routine Newcastle victory, likely to swat aside a very poor West Ham side seemingly doomed for the drop: West Ham 0-2 Newcastle.
