Wolverhampton looks set to pull off another important signing before the new season kicks off. Fabrizio Romano and Football Italia report that the Premier League club has made a €12 million bid for Jackson Tchatchoua, the 23-year-old Cameroonian currently with Hellas Verona.

Seen as the frontrunner to replace Nélson Semedo, who left Molineux in recent weeks, Tchatchoua could arrive as part of a deal that includes performance-based bonuses — something that might help push the agreement over the line quickly.

How Wolves ended up here

This summer has been anything but quiet for Vítor Pereira’s squad. In one hit, the team lost three major players: Matheus Cunha, Rayan Aït-Nouri, and Nélson Semedo. Replacements have been coming in steadily. Jorgen Strand Larsen is back after his loan spell, while Fer López, Jhon Arias, and David Møller Wolfe have also joined. Arias and López should add firepower to the attack, and Møller Wolfe is expected to take over duties on the left side of the back line.

The right side, though, has been left exposed since Semedo’s exit. That’s where Tchatchoua’s name comes into the picture. The fact he can operate as both a right back and a midfielder makes him a flexible option, letting the manager tweak tactics without burning through substitutions too quickly.

Why Tchatchoua fits the bill

At Verona, Tchatchoua proved he can slot into different roles and adjust to whatever the game demands. He’s only 23, but he’s already showing a mix of energy and potential for growth that Premier League clubs value highly.

Having experience as both a wingback and a defensive midfielder means he can push forward when needed, but also shut down space and protect the defense. According to Football Italia, there are several other clubs keeping tabs on him, yet right now Wolves are the only ones actively in talks. The €12 million bid, along with possible add-ons, gives them a strong position to get the deal done.

If the move happens, Tchatchoua is likely to step straight into the starting lineup, giving Wolves a reliable option on the right and shoring up the defensive shape. After a summer of big changes, the club is looking for stability and balance. Bringing in a player with his skill set and adaptability feels like a smart, targeted move to get them closer to that goal.
