Down to the last eight are Barcelona, Wolfsburg, Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Lyon. The competition shrinks as traditional powerhouses come up against rising ones, as well as some rematches loaded with baggage from past seasons.

Barcelona vs. Wolfsburg: A clash of titans with recent history

If there is one team that can be called "the team to beat," it is Barcelona. The reigning back-to-back Women's Champions League champion comes into the quarterfinals carrying favoritism but also the weight of responsibility.

On the other side, Wolfsburg isn't any opponent. A finalist in the 2022/23 edition, the German side was literally just minutes away from lifting the trophy before being hit by an amazing comeback from Barcelona in Eindhoven. If there is a team that can break the Spanish hegemony, it is Wolfsburg.

The big question is: Has Wolfsburg learned from past mistakes? Barcelona remains at its best, with Aitana Bonmatí commanding the midfield, showing increasingly dominant soccer. But the psychological factor may weigh in. If Wolfsburg can step onto the field with a clear goal of not repeating recent history, they can turn this matchup into a real battle.

Manchester City vs. Chelsea: An English rivalry on a new stage

If the Manchester City vs. Chelsea clashes are always heated in men's soccer, this matchup in women's soccer brings in some new elements: for the first time, the English clubs will face off in European competition, and this encounter promises to be one of the quarterfinals' most evenly matched matchups.

On one side is Chelsea, heavy investment and seeking their maiden Women's Champions League title; on the other, Manchester City arrives with the desire to break barriers and establish itself among the giants of Europe. Chelsea has more European experience, but City has the squad to surprise them. This game might be about the details, and getting the first-leg advantage is going to be crucial to whoever wants to move forward.

Real Madrid vs. Arsenal: A first ever match between Tradition and Rise

Another debut from teams in this tournament, Real Madrid and Arsenal have never seen each other yet in the Women's Champions League. On one side, there was a Spanish club that solidifies itself, step by step, on European terrain in these recent years; on the other side, traditional power in feminine soccer that desires a return to the top levels.

Real Madrid has yet to win any big title, while its progress is obvious; Arsenal seeks restoration in the elite positions of European soccer.

Who will win? The most interesting thing about this game is that it's very unpredictable. If Arsenal can impose their game, then they might easily get through, but if Real Madrid capitalizes on its growing collective strength, then the English side may find themselves in for a stressful evening.

Lyon vs. Bayern Munich: A clash of tradition

If there's any club that meant the history of the Women's Champions League, that's Lyon. The French outfit is the most successful in the tournament with eight titles and shares a special bond with the trophy. On the other side, Bayern Munich is working in order to consolidate itself among the elites of women's soccer.

The two teams meet for the first time since a comprehensive 2019/20 quarterfinal when Lyon eliminated Bayern in a tactical and intense game. Two years later, the first edition of this group stage saw both teams win away from home.

This means there is growing balance in this rivalry. Lyon still has experience and a winning mentality, but Bayern is an evolving team with the possibility to surprise them; whoever is able to impose their game first will have a great chance of advancing into the semifinals.

What can be expected from the semifinals?

Aside from the quarterfinal pairings, the draw also outlined possible semifinals, pitting Barcelona against Chelsea, provided both teams make it past their respective matches.

This will be a historic revenge match if it happens. Barcelona and Chelsea have met in the last two editions of the Women's Champions League, and Barcelona has come out on top; the question is, will Chelsea break this barrier?

A semifinal pairing of Lyon versus Arsenal would match a team built on dominance against one seeking to reclaim its historic status. In any case, the next stages promise even more thrills, regardless of the results of the quarterfinals.
