EA Sports FIFA 13 U.S. Release Just Hours Away
By Doug Smith
The release of FIFA 13 by EA Sports has been eagerly anticipated across the world and the United States is on the verge of its release. A large portion of the world will have to wait until later in the week, but the launch party for the game is currently taking place in Manhattan. The EA Sports football game has been caught in features by its competitor, Pro Evolution Soccer, in recent years. However, it remained the king of the gaming world outselling PES last year 25 to 1. Still, the folks at EA Sports are taking a big risk by making a large overhaul in game dynamics.
With Lionel Messi on the cover, the FIFA 13 game is ready for the primetime. It has been getting great reviews, which is not a surprise. According to EA Sports,

"FIFA 13 captures all the drama and unpredictability of real-world soccer, and is driven by five game-changing innovations which revolutionize artificial intelligence, dribbling, ball control and physical play. It is the largest and deepest feature set in the history of the franchise. These innovations create a true battle for possession across the entire pitch, deliver freedom and creativity in attack, and capture all the drama and unpredictability of the real-world game."
The first touch of every player on the pitch is said to be transformed. In previous versions, the first touch was pretty much perfect for everyone. Defensive pressure, pass quality, pass trajectory, and velocity factor in more than ever. There is also a more intelligent attacking A.I. for the computer that takes into consideration the player rating and ability. They curve runs or try to take defenders out of position. There is also a feature inspired by Messi called complete dribbling that gives players more ways to beat the defense.
The game modes should be familiar. In career mode one can chose to play or manage working your way through the ranks. Players can now manage an international team as well. In the EA Sports Football Club friends can compete together leveling through 100 stages and unlocking new rewards along the way. In FIFA Ultimate Team the player tries to build a team by earning, selling, and buying cards.
There are 69 stadiums in the game, but not all are authentic. There are no real U.S. stadiums in the game. The MLS All Star team and United States National Team are available in the game as well as all Major League Soccer teams.
Also, there is a unique new way to celebrate in FIFA 12 helping to remind us that this is indeed a video game.
The release party in Manhattan is in full swing with Snoop Dogg (or is it Snoop Lion) and the New York Red Bulls among the guests.
Heath Pearce, a member of the January roster for the USMNT, is helping with the entertainment.
So there may be some all nighters after the midnight release tonight. Are you getting the game? What are you most looking forward to? Which squad do you play with the most? Let us know. Also, remember don’t rub it in that the U.S. got an earlier release than most.
