Obafemi Martins (vs. San Jose)

If you are like me, when you saw this goal happen you could not believe it. I did not have a clue how Obafemi Martins could physically get the ball in the net with such a narrow angle. He somehow managed to pull it off, and it was an absolute thing of beauty.

Off a lobbed pass, Obafemi Martins managed to kick the ball on one bounce and loop it over Jon Busch all while only a couple of feet from the end line. There was little else where that  ball could have been placed for it to have made over Busch and into the net. Like I said before, it was a thing of beauty and just added to the many spectacular goals Martins has scored. He was nominated for multiple goals of the year this year after all.

  • Now while Martins’ goal required an awful lot of skill and touch, there was a little bit of luck involved in it. I mean there had to me with the nature of the goal. That takes away a little bit from the goal and quality of the actual goal in my opinion. Whether or not other voters think that way or it impacts his votes in any way remains to be seen.

Either way, this goal from Obafemi Martins was a great goal and one worth remembering. I think we’ll be talking about this goal for quite some time, or at least Sounders fans most definitely will. Let us know what you think of Martins’ goal!
