Germany continued their dominance in the 2015 Woman’s World Cup with an effortlessly easy win against Sweden today in Ottawa, Canada at Lansdowne Stadium.

Just as they were granted a gift after finishing third in their group by making it to the knockout rounds, the Swedish women could not get the job done. With goals from Anja Mittag, Celia Sasic and Dzenifer Marozsan, the Germany side showed exactly what they were made of and displayed a performance for their next opponents to fear.

Anja Mittag opened up scoring in the 24th minute and shortly after Celia Sasic doubled the German’s lead before scoring another goal within at the 78th minute. In the 82nd minute Linda Sembrant of Sweden scored a wonderful header off of her teammates free-kick, granting the Swede’s first goal of the game. However; their confidence were soon shattered against as Dzsenifer Marozsan closed their dreams with an 88th minute goal, granting Germany the win.

Germany progress onto the quarterfinals were they will take on the winner of France and South Korea. France are the favorites to defeat the South Koreans, however, based on their performance in Group E, the Koreans have a chance to take the win. That match will be played tomorrow, on June 21st at 7:30, EST.
