Paulo Guerrero. As with Vidal, it’s too easy to give this award to most well-known and established stars like Lionel Messi or Alexis Sánchez. Guerrero is older and certainly past his prime when he played for Bayern Munich and Hamburg in the Bundesliga. He’s still got enough in the tank though to score four times and thus share the tournament’s Golden Boot with Eduardo Vargas. He leads Peru’s line in less quantifiable ways though, muscling defenders out of games and frequently creating space for Jefferson Farfan and his other surprisingly ferocious teammates. Though he’s often overshadowed by Claudio Pizarro, but by all rights Guerrero should be considered one of Peru’s leading lights.
