Di Maria agrees terms with PSG

Finally for Manchester United, their record signing, Angel Di Maria, is set to leave the club after just one season, according to Le Parisien.

Di Maria has reportedly agreed terms with the French giants over a €60m move that would see him join later this summer. The Argentinian is thought to be unhappy in England and would like to leave for the French capital – and PSG can now make their move now FFP regulations have been relaxed.

PSG have been chasing Di Maria for over a year but were pipped to his signature by United.

Tottenham confirm signing of Toby Alderweireld

Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of Toby Alderweireld on a five-year contract from Atlético Madrid for a fee of £11.4m. The Belgium defender becomes the north London club’s third signing of the summer and he joins in spite of a dispute between Atlético and Southampton, the club at which he played last season on loan.

Southampton wanted to make Alderweireld’s transfer permanent and they took up the contractual option to do so at the cost of €8m. Atlético were able to over-ride the clause by paying €2m to Southampton – but they missed the deadline for the payment, according to the south coast club.

Berainho ditches Ward

West Brom striker Saido Berahino has parted company with Aidy Ward, the controversial football agent behind Raheem Sterling’s transfer fiasco with Liverpool. The 21-year-old joined Sterling in going with Ward when the agent set up on his own last season after leaving Impact Sports Management.

But Berahino, who was called up to the England squad last November, is said to have become disillusioned with Ward following Sterling’s attempts to leave Anfield. The 20-year-old phoned in sick on Wednesday and has said he won’t go on Liverpool’s pre-season tour.

Berahino’s management contract — still with Impact — expires in November.

Ward said: ‘I’m no longer working with Saido. You’ll have to ask him for the reasons. With Raheem, there has been a breakdown in trust between him and Brendan Rodgers.’
