Who would your favorite Premier League club like to sell to China for 25 million pounds?
In honor of Chelsea’s pending 25 million pound transfer of Ramires to the Chinese League, we take a look at which player each Premier League club would like to sell to China. The rules of this exercise are fairly straight forward. Each Premier League team, gets to sell one player to the Chinese League for the same sum Chelsea is receiving for Ramires. The selected player must be someone who actually plays a fair amount for the club in question. Without further delay, here’s the list.
Leicester-Gokhan Inler- The Swiss International has only managed five appearances for the Foxes on the season and only one of them was decent. They’d take a big pile of cash for him in a second.
Manchester City-Willy Caballero- It was a close call between the City backup keeper and striker Wilfried Bony, but Caballero gets it by a nose. Getting 25 million pounds for a 34-year-old second choice keeper would be great business.
Arsenal-Mikel Arteta-
The 33-year-old midfielder has really struggled for Arsene Wenger this season.
Tottenham-Federico Fazio- I almost went with Andros Townsend here, but he actually has some sell-on value. In contrast, Fazio can’t outrun molasses and needs to be sent back to Sevilla (or China) faster than he can actually move.
Manchester United- Marouane Fellaini- No Memphis Depay haters, he still has lots of potential left. It came down to either Michael Carrick or Fellaini and I chose the Belgian. He’s been more of an obvious failure than Carrick who can at least blame his lack of form on his age.
West Ham-Carl Jenkinson- I know he belongs to Arsenal, but I’m calling him for West Ham here anyway. Any player who the chairman tells to f*&* off has to have his bags packed for China.
Liverpool-Daniel Sturridge-
They’d love to get one million pounds for every injury he’s had this season.
Stoke-Peter Crouch- As a Spurs fan I have an obvious soft spot for Crouch, but he hasn’t done anything for Stoke this season. It’s the end of the line for him so you know the Potters would cash out if they could.
Watford-Victor Ibarbo- The 25-year-old attacker has barely managed to get a game for Watford this season. He’s good on FIFA, but that’s about it.
Crystal Palace-Fraizer Campbell- He might be the most anonymous striker in the league. They could buy five of him with the potential 25 million pound fee.
Everton-Arouna Kone- Just watch the faces in the Everton crowd when he comes on as a substitute. It makes Manchester City fans’ reactions to Jesus Navas crosses look downright pleasant.
Chelsea-Falcao- This was one of the easiest selections of the lot. The irony is that they couldn’t even buy him for 25 million pounds given their pre-negotiated deal.
West Brom-Rickie Lambert- If you asked Tony Pulis he’d undoubtedly say Saido Berahino, but we all know Jeremy Peace thinks he’s worth 100 million pounds.
Swansea-Bafetimbi Gomis- He was actually ruled offside as he tried to make the transfer to China. As such, he’s back at Swansea for the season.
Bournemouth-Adam Federici- Go back and watch any of his five appearances in-goal for the team this season. You’ll be tempted to pay for his ticket to China yourself.
Norwich-Cameron Jerome- He does have three goals on the season, but he’s contributed almost nothing else in his 23 appearances for the Canaries.
Newcastle-Florian Thauvin- Even though he’s just 22 years of age he looks to be the absolute definition of the word flop.
Sunderland-Jack Rodwell- It’s time that we accept that Rodwell isn’t going to be the player we all imagined he was going to develop into. It’s sad, but the truth.
Aston Villa- Jack Grealish- I chose Grealish just because of this misadventures he could get into if he got the move to China. This would be tremendous reality television at the very least.
