1. Can Tottenham stop their nemesis, Sergio Aguero?
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero loves to play, and score, against Tottenham. In fact, no current Premier League player has scored against Tottenham more than the City striker.
Aguero also happens to be red-hot at the moment having scored seven goals in his last five matches. This doesn’t bode well for a Tottenham defense that is without centre back Jan Vertonghen for the match.
That piles a lot of pressure on young Kevin Wimmer to pick up the Spurs slack next to Toby Alderweireld. The young Austrian has looked competent in Vertonghen’s absence, but this will be a serious step up in competition. He’ll have to find a way to close Aguero down without giving away fouls in dangerous positions.
Of course, stopping Aguero is going to be the task of Tottenham’s entire back six, not just Wimmer. They will need to pay constant attention to him and close him down the instant he touches the ball. He has an innate ability to score goals out of nowhere.
