Is the La Liga title already in Barcelona’s hands?
By Jake Cole
After a fantastic treble winning season last year, could Barcelona be on course for another La Liga title and maybe another treble?
Year after year we see Barcelona near or at the very top of world football, many people say this is down to the brilliance of Lionel Messi, however, this current team could be up there as one of the greatest teams ever. This Barcelona team currently has the best three players in world football in Messi, Neymar, Suarez and quite easily have one of the best creative midfielders in the world in Iniesta. They could even have one hand on the league title already this season and we are only in February.

With Real Madrid far from there best this season and Atletico Madrid not putting up a big shout for the title, it could mean a straight home run for Barcelona to the La Liga title. Both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid had season damaging results over the weekend with draws against Villarreal and Malaga respectively, whereas Barcelona won, yet again, and many are saying they already have one hand on the title.
If they keep up their current run of form they could be in for another title-winning season by a clear margin over their rivals and even the possibility of doing the treble again is very high, with a mouth-watering tie against Arsenal in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Why are Barcelona being unstoppable?
Three words… Messi, Neymar, Suarez
So far this season Messi, Neymar and Suarez have been in unbelievable form for Barcelona, scoring some fantastic goals and scoring a lot of them. Just between the three of them they have scored 91 goals this season and even better they have scored 213 goals between them since Suarez joined Barcelona in the summer of 2o14. Taking into account Suarez missed the first few months of last season’s treble winning campaign and Messi missed a few months this season with an injury, 213 goals is a massive achievement and the three of them have been a huge part of Barcelona’s success.
However, the team working behind the front three have done extremely well, from the goalkeepers to the defence and to the midfield. Claudio Bravo has been the number one during the league campaigns and has done extremely well, coming in and replacing Victor Valdes was a tough task, but he has been equal to the task and has been a vital part of one of the greatest Barcelona teams ever. Keeping hold of Dani Alves was also very important, because despite getting older he is still an extremely important member of the Barcelona squad.
Once again, Barcelona have installed a fantastic manager to coach a fantastic team. Like with Guardiola, he is a young manager who had previously played for Barcelona, so Luis Enrique came into the team with knowledge of all the surroundings and the clubs history and was ready to take them on. I’m not doubting that he took on a world-class team already, but he has taken it and made it better, into an unstoppable force.
It is now seeming to be a straight run for the title for Barcelona now and they are looking for back to back La Liga titles. This would be a fantastic achievement for Luis Enrique, winning the title twice in his first two seasons, he has created a beast a Barcelona and a beast that is even looking likely to stake a claim to be the first team to win back to back Champions League trophies.

Can they now prove to be one of the greatest teams ever? With one hand on the league title already this season, a fantastic chance to progress in the Champions League and are in the final of the Copa Del Rey. They aren’t just looking for back to back La Liga titles, they are also well on course to complete the treble for the second year running. This would without doubt put this current Barcelona team up there with the best teams ever in world football.
