“Dos Santos has vowed to give everything to be the top “or one of the top three most influential players in MLS” in order to get back in the national team.”
That quote in a recent ESPNFC article by Tom Marshall sparked a thought about Mexican players and their participation in Major League Soccer. Like many U.S. players, Mexican footballers also strive to play in Europe and make a splash on one of the biggest stages.
However, many have come back to the Americas and played in the MLS while also giving themselves an opportunity to refine their craft and land a spot on El Tri (The Mexican National Team).

MLS and Liga MX have been rival leagues for the last 20 years competing for regional supremacy. Since its founding in 1993, 107 countries have been represented with numerous stars being born on their way to outstanding careers.
Within the thousands of players to have graced an MLS uniform, 69 of them originating from Mexico have played in the MLS. If you follow Mexican soccer some names will sound familiar, Jose Manuel Abundis, Omar Bravo, Duilio Davino and Nery Castillo.
