Troy Deeney

Watford’s comfortable mid-table finish as a newly promoted side flew under the radar last season because of Leicester, but the Hornets were a tough opponent week-to-week thanks in large part to their captain, Troy Deeney. It’s safe to say Deeney lived up to the reputation he carved out in the Championship in his first season as a Premier League player. A strong and physical presence in the No. 9 role, Deeney netted 13 goals, which was good for second-most on Watford and ninth in the EPL.

Odion Ighalo

Jumping right to the only Watford player to outscore Deeney, Ighalo’s fantastic early season form saw him take home the December Player of the Month award. The Nigerian international had 15 league goals and the Hornets needed every one of them. Ighalo and Deeney accounted for 70 percent of Watford’s goals last season.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Staying with Nigerian forwards here, the 19-year-old Iheanacho netted eight goals in 26 league appearances, many of which were from off the bench. Perhaps most impressively, he was given key minutes ahead of high-priced transfer Wilfried Bony due to his incredible scoring poise for a young player. We know Sergio Aguero, despite his immense talent, will miss games this season, and Manchester City will be relying on Iheanacho in his place.
