5 Tottenham lessons from Juventus match
5. Vincent Janssen needs service
The following statement isn’t intended to send Spurs fans into a panic, but it probably will anyway. VIncent Janssen looked a lot like Roberto Soldado during his first public appearance for Tottenham.

That does not mean that Janssen is destined to flop like the Spanish centre forward, but they do share some concerning characteristics. Both men clearly need a healthy amount of service if they’re going to score goals. Janssen was largely ineffective against Juventus due to Spurs’ inability to sustain any sort of attacking pressure.
To be fair, it’s only been one match so it’s silly to draw any hard and fast conclusions. I just have some mild concerns that Janssen lacks the requisite athleticism to really replicate how Harry Kane contributes to the Tottenham attack. Hopefully, the Dutch striker will find his legs (and thus his athleticism) once he grows more accustomed to Pochettino’s grueling training methods.
As it stands, Janssen looked tired and leggy against The Old Lady. He couldn’t find any way to make a real mark in the match and his initial public display for Tottenham was largely anonymous. He’s got a lot of time to change the way Tottenham fans feel about him, but his first impression wasn’t great.
