1. Erik Lamela might be Tottenham’s breakout star

There really wasn’t anything I didn’t like about the 45 minute shift Erik Lamela put in against Juventus. From his outstanding work rate to his scintillating goal, he was an absolute star.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

This may be the season where Tottenham fans really see Lamela’s full breadth of talent. We’ve seen flashes, especially last season, but he’s never seemed to be able to put it all together. His performance against Juventus sent clear signs that this could be the season he explodes onto the Premier League stage.

The Argentine star was cool and composed at all times against The Old Lady. He stabilized the Spurs attach the moment he stepped onto the pitch and completely changed the feel of the match. He put Juventus on the back foot and Spurs could easily have come back and won the match due to his significant influence.

Again, he only played one half of football so it’s dangerous to draw too many conclusions. Even so, Lamela’s star showed bright enough to get all Tottenham fans very excited. The Lamela haters need to beware, this could be the season where they lose all credibility.
