Striker and Keeper

As you might have guessed, I believe Vincent Janssen is going to get another opportunity to lead the Spurs line. With Son playing as an attacking midfielder, Pochettino really doesn’t have another credible option.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Janssen is a good choice against Leverkusen because he’ll provide his club with a true target man. Expect the Spurs midfield to be under pressure due to a fired-up home side. When in doubt, they’ll play the ball towards Janssen so he can hold it up.

Critics of the Dutch star will claim he needs to score to justify his inclusion in the starting XI, but that simply isn’t the case. If he can effectively bring his attacking teammates into the match his outing should be considered a success.

The choice at keeper makes itself when Hugo Lloris is fit. Pochettino won’t do anything overly complicated here. His French captain will certainly start such an important match.
