4.) F.C. Copenhagen

The final contestant is absolutely a long shot, to the point that they should probably be dismissed. However, I have to give the Danish champions credit as they currently sit second in their group having drawn away to Porto and narrowly losing 1-0 away to Leicester City.

F.C. Copenhagen is the final hope for the romantic Champions League fan who are yearning for a club from a tiny league to lift the cup.

The reason for optimism is similar to that of the other clubs that I have chosen.  F.C. Copenhagen play two of their final three group stage matches at home and with Leicester City holding a massive lead in the group, perhaps we could see a rested starter or two in the upcoming fixture.

More from Champions League

Many will deride F.C. Copenhagen for their extremely direct tactics and defending deep, but the reality is that is how they are going to collect points and knowing who you are can go a long way.  With nearly their entire squad made up of  Scandinavian players, you know F.C. Copenhagen can organize defensively and launch the occasional counter.  Leading that line is Andreas Cornelius who has found success in the first match against Porto and in the league as well.

If F.C. Copenhagen reach the final 16 of this Champions League it will be a huge success in and of itself as the prize money and attention will boost the club financially for the next few seasons.  For fans of underdog stories and breaking up the big leagues in Europe, root with me for F.C. Copenhagen.
