The big fear: That their road form will not improve against the Galaxy.

RSL seemed to almost have a split personality this season. At home the club looked like an MLS Cup contender, holding an 8-1-8 record. But on the road they slumped to a 4-11-2 record. Although four wins seems to be on par with the rest of MLS this season in terms of road results RSL has been particularly dreadful because of the lack of draws. Their 12 points on the road this season is the lowest among any MLS playoff side.

More from Real Salt Lake

The good news for RSL supporters is that they do have some recent success against the Galaxy at the StubHub Center. They entering Wednesday’s match with Los Angeles with a 6-10-1 record all-time at the StubHub Center.

They have also been known to pull out a result against the Galaxy in the playoffs. Supporters will remember fondly their 2009 penalty shootout win against the Galaxy in Seattle. So it is not out of the realm of possibility for this side to pull off the upset and move forward in this year’s playoffs.
