Finally, they have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Scoring 11 goals in 14 games in all competitions already this season is some feat. Especially since three of those have come in the Champions League for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – which saw one come against Real Madrid.

Despite drawing a blank against Schalke in the Ruhr Derby at the weekend, the Gabon international has three in his last four games, proving to be the main source of goals in the current Dortmund setup.

Following his £11 million move from Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2013, Aubameyang slowly settled to life in Germany which saw a return of 13 league goals that campaign, under Jurgen Klopp.

Slowly but surely, the Gabon forward found his feet. With 16 goals from the right flank the following season, it wasn’t until Thomas Tuchel took charge that Aubameyang finally started to repay his transfer fee.

More from Champions League

His first season under the tuition of Tuchel – who moved Aubameyang to centre forward – saw a return of 25 league goals, which saw him go head-to-head with former Dortmund star Robert Lewandowski for the top scorer in the Bundesliga.

Narrowly missing out, the 27-year-old is slowly finding his form this season too. With three goals in the Champions League this season, he will be amongst Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann to be in the run-in for the top scorers in the Champions League this campaign. Without a doubt.
