5. Desperation

Spurs left back Danny Rose has already gone on record as saying the Leverkusen and Arsenal matches this week could “make or break” Tottenham’s season. Given the club’s pitiful performance against their Bundesliga opponent, it’s easy to presume that Rose feels the NLD is a must win affair.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Quite simply, Tottenham are a wounded animal at the moment. Those who spend lots of time in the wild understand that’s when a beast is most dangerous. Spurs are going to scratch and claw for every possible advantage on Sunday.

It’s one of those occasions where one team would really like to win, but another team needs a victory. Certainly, Arsenal are highly motivated to win the match, but they don’t have to have the three points.

Tottenham are going to approach this match like a starving man in the desert. Spurs will do anything necessary to come away with a much-needed result.
