What club needs MLS Cup the most?

4.) Colorado
Coming in at number four is the Colorado Rapids. As anyone who knows MLS can tell you, the Rapids are a classic worst to first story that the league is known for. A year ago Colorado finished bottom of the Western Conference and second from the bottom in the entire league, the bottom was the Bridgeview Fire.
There were some very public sentiments throughout the offseason that head coach Pablo Masteroeni was out of his depth and when combined with curious moves not usually seen in MLS, such as signing a high-priced goalkeeper (ended up working) many wanted him out.

Well long story short, Colorado has been a revelation this season as they just narrowly missed out on the Supporters Shield. A well thought out blend (in hindsight) of transfers this offseason has led to Colorado leading the league defensively by a wide margin and scoring just enough to collect points. At home, the Rapids have been particularly difficult to break down conceding just seven goals and never losing a match.
There are two primary reason’s why this club ranks in fourth in terms of needing to add another piece of silverware to the cupboard. The first is that they have already experienced success. Just six years ago in 2010, Colorado beat FC Dallas. Despite that trophy, however, Colorado has no other major title to their name. I’m not saying that this club has a history similar to that of the L.A. Galaxy or D.C. United, but until that MLS Cup trophy has a little more time to gather dust they can’t complain. Second is that because this season was such a complete shock, their fans should be ecstatic just to be here.
I know ending this fantastic turnaround will be somewhat hollow without a single trophy (no U.S. Open Cup or Supporters Shield either), Colorado is still qualified for the CONCACAF Champions League starting next year as a reward. Winning would be nice for the Rapids, but they are by far the club that needs to win it the most.
